This week has been busier and a little more stressful than usual, its making me day dream about closing my eyes pointing my finger to a map and jet setting somewhere! (always wanted to do that) Im assuming my finger would pick the most expensive place to visit though...would be a slight problem! i think i have one high maintenance finger.. Since the house is chewing a little of our savings and i have a week of holidays coming up in April im thinking to lighten my spirits ill redecorate the back yard in a tropical theme! make some Margaritas and float in our pool (thats right we have a pool) on a rather large inflatable animal listening to a Beach Boys record...almost as good right??

Making The Cut...

So i finally found the gumption to cut my hair...See!!

Ok...ok maybe i didn't go that far!!

But all the same i tried!!! this is the shortest i have had my hair since high school where i ended up with almost a shaved head from putting blonding spray through my hair until it basically fell off (yes..i used blonding spray all my terrible secrets are now on the table) its actually shorter than the last photo as im tilting my head a little, when its curled it sits on my shoulders! i envy girls who can walk into a salon blonde and come out red! I wish i was that adventurous.. although i do go crazy sometimes and get half way through a book...then start another one! thats right, im adventurous and unpredictable like that!!

Baker Betty...

When i first met my partner/man/love of my life i may have told a rather small white lie about being quite a good cook...don't judge me just yet!! of course i was filling his mind with visions of me in an apron cooking him wholesome meals and baking triple layer cakes. Being European he loves his food...and since we have been together i have put on a few or more kilos...and as we are almost at the one year mark (tadaaaa!!!) i think he may have...sort of..maybe clued on im not exactly that talented at cooking.

Although in my mind i think im rather good, i can make a mean Megoran noodles, and a batch of vanilla cupcakes usually works out in an edible state so i didn't think my white lie was totally untrue...until this past weekend when i cooked a whole fish for him and his family....which was still...semi raw!

So hopefully this year...since we just bought our first house!!!!!! yippeee!!! which i am kinda over the moon about!!! i cant wait to share pictures and decorating ideas when we move in in February, Ill become a little more Martha Stewart...and learn to cook food thoroughly....fingers crossed!

Spent the weekend fanning my sweaty face with brochures on a wine tour bus, trying to escape the heat by eating frozen grapes and dreaming of tropical islands, looking at houses with the boy and dreaming of ways to decorate...with a house i don't have! and purposely sitting on pale blue punch buggies for photographs....which has left me with an urge to purchase one...which if i did would probably need a lifetime of RAC roadside assistance!

Toffee Apple...

Im absolutely sure every woman needs an electric blue pair of heels, its a fool-proof way to add a bit of sass to your wiggle i still adore mine, they pick me up a little when i feel like im in a clothing slump! (i think ive been channelling Marilyn lately)

After a huge weekend filled with a lot more eating (it was my partners christmas) thats right two Christmas's im looking forward to getting back into a normal eating and sleeping pattern, the boy bought me a sea monkey starter kit which im a little too excited about! i love things that take you back to your childhood, im also starting to learn a new language this week...(nervous..much!) my partner is Serbian and i do know a few words but im keen to pick up on a little more, aside from the fact he only teaches me the naughty words im excited to learn another language fingers crossed i can pick it up. do you have any tips for learning a new language? im guessing repetition and lots of homework....

I have a huge week planned with lots of sewing and hopefully a shop update soon! xx i think ill need another coffee!!

Shabby Apple...

This would be the time that i apologise for my absence and admit that i have been away from my little blog because i have been stuffing my face, opening presents and wasting my time on holiday lazing on the beach...i don't expect you for one minute to feel sorry for me that i now struggle to fit into half of my pencil skirts...i think i may have had one too many mince pies over christmas!!! i hope you all had a swell New Years too...i have a nice little list of resolutions and goals i want to conquer this year, cant wait to get started!

Well its official, i am another year older...and im unsure if im wiser just yet! sorry i haven't posted an outfit this week between my birthday celebrations and christmas i haven't had time to photograph anything!! and im serious, on my birthday bbq i didn't even get a proper head to toe shot (now thats unusual for me).. it was such a lovely day i was super spoiled by my love, he bought me an amazing Aquamarine ring and a brand spanking new mac book pro (shriek) im such a lucky girl!!! as well as that we all went and had a fab bbq down by the river on a perfect day ate till my dress almost popped, laughed till my stomach cramped and drank champagne in very classy plastic wine cups. I had the best weekend!! (my burned shoulders can confirm this) The dress i purchased new from Dangerfield and the bunting i handmade with the cutest pattern paper.....and that cake....i still wish i just had a little piece left.

Gramophone Love...

One of my most prized possessions is my HMV Gramophone, even though it needs a little love is beaten up and appears very sorry for itself, i love that it sits comfortably in the corner of my room next to my vintage books (my room is almost a retirement village for vintage items) i have only played it a few times much to the annoyance of my flat mate as it has a spooky eerie sound that might resemble a cat fight!

Like everyone else these past few weeks have been super super busy buying christmas presents, putting up the tree, planning a holiday with my man for next year and organising bits an pieces for my birthday over the weekend! turning the big 25 is a little daunting but im excited for the next year! hopefully it holds big big things for me and the vintage valley shop!!! Im having a little bbq down by the river with a few close friends hopefully the weather isn't too hot..ill be taking lots of pics xx

After spending a very successful few hours in the op shop i found this adorable mustard blouse/jacket along with a few other squeal worthy dresses, i fell in love with the large black buttons and hand stitched leaf detail (gasp) and to top it off its in near perfect condition, It was one of those days where the op shop gods align shining a beam of light on the women's tops aisle with not another lady in sight to elbow you out of your purchase and you find that piece you know you will love until the seams burst and will sit on your clothes rack even when you cant fit it anymore...hoping someday it will again! That is why i op shop..its all an amazing rush..(These images make me giggle a little i think i look like a giant hot dog) I also have two adorable dresses going into the shop this week so keep checking back if your in need of a summer dress...or two XX

Im getting back to what i love best! i have missed this little blog. i did promise changes and new inspiring posts when i came back and i have so much coming (i cant wait to show you all) im sticking to styling vintage inspired shoots for outfits instead of boring backyard photos and sharing a little more of myself on here too!

I took these photos on a lazy Sunday we hit the perfect summer weather, hot enough to lounge around in a yellow sundress but still cool enough to feel the breeze on your face! Ice-cream is (and always will be) a must...if the cheeky cat (i pressured into having a photo with me) dosent steal it!

Just in case you all thought i had forgotten to post for the past week or so, And if you did notice (oh how sweet of you) im sorry for not being around! ive decided to take a step back from blogging for a week to change a few things and take a new path with what i want this blog to offer to you all (my lovely readers) im not sure if you all feel that way sometimes but i think its time for a spring clean! Its easy to get caught up in posting in a routine instead of letting inspiration lead the way so....im going to get some of that back!

I honestly take off my hat to all you ladies who can fit work, blogging, running a business & (children if you have them) and still stay inspired to be creative (and sport perfectly applied makeup) its something im constantly working on and hope to get better at.

I took these photographs yesterday when i was deciding on outfits for Melbourne Cup, i actually didn't end up wearing this dress but i loved how the photos turned out so i thought id post them anyway! i spent a good hour in the morning doing my victory rolls (sometimes they end up a total disaster) but i find if i do them on third day hair with lots of pins and hairspray they wont move for most of the day! i didn't have a huge hat for the day just a simple pastel pink flower but i think with the hair it worked out ok! we had a lovely lunch at Burswood and watched the race (i didn't win anything..never do) but its nice to get dolled up and have a few afternoon champagnes.

Im also in love with my new Mollini pink cork heels, i love bow shoes! and they are super comfortable which is an added bonus!

I hope your all having a fabulous week so far we are getting some hot weather now (summer is officially here) so im pulling out my light material dresses yay!

Hair Glitz..

It was pretty miserable weather when i took these photos, but i guess it usually encourages me to dress more brightly! since your clothes are always a mood altering factor i love clashing colours and attempting to add a bit of sparkle to a overcast day!

I adore this silk dress (borrowed from the VV Shop), it has such a 30's vibe to it! but as much as i love it i can iron and steam it till the cows come home and then i will sit on the couch and it will crumple straight away..darn it! so please excuse the rumpled look i tried my hardest..i really did! I couldn't wait to show you these Hobbs blue suede shoes! (i mean every girl needs blue suede shoes..right?) i am wearing them for my Auntie's wedding this weekend (slightly panicking about what to wear)

Ive also taken to wearing necklaces in my hair! (Don't think im crazy) it actually is quite cute if you get the right length to hang and it adds a little girlie sparkle. Cute right?

Well this week is pretty busy im helping with a few last minute details for my Aunties wedding on Saturday and since its a 4 day week (because the Queen is in town) im lucky to have a bit of prep time to add new pieces into the shop! Happy Friday! i cant believe how fast the week has gone, its been a blur of coffee, hemming and trying...trying to drag myself out of bed to do some exercise (which never really happened) its so nice that the sun is out now, but it just makes me think about my super white legs being exposed all the more! (not that i mind being super white)

I adore this dress, Its another Asos purchase i couldn't help myself i loved the cut and when it arrived i was more delighted that it fit like a glove!! I know i have curves and ive always embraced them! i think dresses like these flatter my curves a little better and not make me feel like ive got way too much junk in my trunk..And this colour is also my all time fav!

I found a way too adorable 1950's dusty pink dress the other day for $5 (almost started yelling start the car!)...(ikea ad for any of you who think im mad) its going to be my fix me up project over the weekend and hopefully i can show you the finished product next week.

If you are in a internet browsing mood check this website out, i spent a good half hour yesterday reading everyones stories! i think its adorable.

Keeping It Casual...

What on earth!!! an outfit without heels...even though it would be nice to think i swan around all day in heels, do my washing in peep toes and bake cakes in stilettos unfortunately i don't! the fact that im super tall means trotting around the house in them makes me look a little weird if im not heading out anywhere and on weekends its nice to slip on your comfy shoes and give your toes a rest..I took theses pics over the weekend when we had some sun...now its raining again! whats with these random weather changes!

I also received my Bon Look glasses in the mail last week..Huzzah!!!!!! i may have had an unhealthy obsession with wanting glasses (just for fashion purposes i might ad) and i wanted a good sturdy frame that i wasn't going to sit on and break. The boy has a little giggle every time he sees me in them (im noting it as a jealousy giggle) i may not be smarter...but i look it haha!

I had an awesome weekend delivering presents for my niece she turned the big 8, watched the entire season 4 of Dexter in one sitting ( i don't even think i blinked the whole way through) and met up for breakfast with my girlies who just got home from travelling Europe i literally sat in awe listening to their stories! darn it...i want a paris adventure!

And to top off the weekend (as if i haven't gushed about it enough) i was featured on Grazia.It i still cant get used to seeing my photos up and about on the web! pretty humbling.

Well i hope your all having a good week! I baked a batch of Red Velvet Cupcakes last night..eating another one wont hurt right? im eating them in portions so i don't feel so guilty.. (hey..works for me!)

I love that in Australia we have radio stations that support unsigned bands and i always love it when JJJ has their unearthed high every year! im not always a huge fan of who wins but id have to say this year im pretty blown away! Crimson Cat Lady...

Well i had a rather fab weekend id have to say! I got to debut a new vintage dress while out for dinner with the girls on Saturday at a cute new place that had grass beard art hanging on the walls (whats not to love about that?) and drank ginger beer cocktails in mason jars..Then on Sunday we went for coffee at Greens n Co (my absolute fave) and sat on vintage rug covered couches and watched the chinese lanterns bob up and down on the ceiling.

On the way out of Greens n Co we stopped off to visit the little boutiques along the street and i fell in love with these Raen sunglasses...after making the crushing decision i couldn't afford any of these amazing ones i think these will come in a pretty close second to being just as amazing! they have everything i love, soft tortoise pattern, thick frames and a cat eye point..not too much..but just enough! (sigh)

And not to sound too corny but the boy and i made it to 6 months yesterday! im not big on anniversaries unless they are in the couple of years category but he is wonderful and cooked me dinner...he also surprised me with a bottle of 7 year old wine...which was amazing, i felt rather spoilt! im a lucky girl.

Im still also crushing over this coral/pink colour..it seems to be matching everything in my Spring wardrobe so far..and i love that the split on this cream skirt is up the side which saves me from worrying im going to split the pleat up the back (yes..its happened to me a few times)

I hope your all having a good start to the week, im working a bit of a blog makeover (a new header would be a good start) so hopefully that will be up and running soon XX

A sweet song to kick of the day... i heard this song late on friday night and i thought it was rather magical, i mean who dosent love a song about video games! although i did fancy the song the film clip left me a little disappointed although Lana is beautiful with lips that any lady would die for! i was hoping for something a little more suited to the song...although that is just my opinion and it is a uneducated one.. Bright White...

The sun was out this morning (about time!) and i have had this adorable white dress waiting in my wardrobe to be worn on a bright Spring day. It was so bright i couldn't take photos in my normal spot out the back of the house so i ventured out of the flat to take some quick pics...aside from the neighbours cat looking at me in a curious way i made it through with minimal embarrassment!

Isn't this dress amazing!!!! i did a little online purchase from Asos (with much encouragement from this lovely lady) and i was pretty happy with the dresses i ended up with! when buying white dresses i prefer them to be new not vintage as they are a little easier to maintain and keep in a semi clean condition.

Im looking forward to this weekend, nothing but relaxing catch ups with the girls cramming in some hemming and hanging with my man! This weather makes me want to bake pies and go on picnics all weekend!

Coral and Clogs..

There is something to be said about taking a dress home without trying it on and it fits like a glove! especially when its vintage and the cuts are a little more specific, i guess im lucky most of the vintage dresses i find i can fit into (even if i have to squeeze myself in...without breathing) or use a belt to make it a little smaller..but i love not having to try and make it fit to me..when you can find a dress that makes you feel like it was made for u!

Im in love with the triangle cut out back and that large button makes me swoon! (its all about the small details) and i think this flower print is the prettiest i have seen in a long time.

Im off to get my hair fixed tomorrow (lets see if i have the gumption to cut it) my colour is all over the place and im a little sad about it..but hopefully tomorrow it will be right as rain!

I had the most exhausting (but lovely) weekend, after a sweet lady came and chose some pieces from my shop i hemmed for a few hours and then had a few glasses of wine while the sun was out! Then me and mah man took my niece to The Royal Show.. after hours of crowds and listening to kids yelling "Can i have this" a few failed attempts at winning any prizes (i suck at games) and scaring the life out of my niece by taking her on the ghost train (ok...in my defence i didn't know she was too young for that! scarred her for life i think) we watched the fireworks and walked half a day back to the car! its so nice to go and see the rides, stuff yourself full of fairy floss and wear a blue wig for the day though..So fun!

I realised i accidentally matched my nails to my dress (i tend to do that all the time) a gorgeous coral colour i pinched from my friend! i cant remember the name of it, but i think next i will do a soft lavender..just before the weekend!

Im also frantically choosing pieces to put in The Vintage Valley Shop this Thursday..some more cute dresses and blouses..Well im off to make another coffee...i need it this morning!

The Holidays...

I saw The Holidays last year at St Jerome's Lane way Festival and they are amazing live!

They give out a little CD at the festival that has songs from each band that played and i can tell you i had 6am on repeat for at least a week! I love a good intro (this ones a sure winner) and i think they are too darn funny bouncing around the stage with their very serious faces to a not so serious song! I hope you all had an amazing weekend..i took my niece to the Royal Show yesterday and im still exhausted..ill be putting pics up tomorrow XX

Faking It...

This week i have had a slight obsession with chopping my hair! you know that urge you get to make a drastic change..well its consumed my thoughts enough for me to tuck under my hair to see if its something i could live with for a little while.... thoughts..opinions?? It may also be that i found pictures of Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe when i was trawling the web..and may have lost my breath for a moment, she just looked so amazing! im not exactly a hair chameleon i never change it and when i do it usually follows with me whinging about how hard it is to style and cursing my hairdresser underneath my breath because she didn't stop me from convincing her i wanted a chunky fringe to cover my big forehead! I envy ladies who can jump from colour to colour and look amazing in the process.

I went brunette a few years ago and even though it saved me from damaging my poor hair every 4 weeks i missed being blonde (and then followed a 6 month process of getting it back to the blonde i wanted) so you see...(i think too much about these things)

So even if this cut is a passing thought im going to jump in and go for it! its just hair after all right?

Chasing the sun...

Im sure i posted about how much the weather was warming up last week, and now! its made a liar out of me.. there was a whole week of sunshine i was pulling out all my Spring dresses and having a little bury the stockings party in my room and now im waking up to a forecast of hail and miserable rain..well damn you! im not going to let that stop me, instead of putting back on the black stockings im breaking out my coral cardigan..

Much like you all (im sure) my clothes always effect my mood, so i try and dress bright and cheery...most of the time! with just enough colour clash that it looks accidental but totally works and hopefully without looking like i got dressed in the dark..

I have been waiting to wear this coral cardigan, its an in-between season one so it had to be just cool/warm enough to wear it! i also wore it buttoned all the way up with a cream knee length skirt this week which was pretty cute too..

This blue flower dress is one that will be going into the shop this week..i wanted to steal it for a day and show it some love before it went to live with the next lucky owner! Its got everything i love about a vintage Spring dress, cute pattern, light fabric, relaxed cut and bright! So keep an eye out it will be in the shop very soon.

One thing im looking forward to next weekend is the Royal Show (i know, i know im a big kid) but me and the boy are taking my niece for the first time so i cant wait to fill her full of sugar and go on all the rides! and of course eat a novelty sized fairy floss! there is just something so magical about a carnival!

Secret Garden...

Im a day late in uploading this outfit as i wore it yesterday but hey! better late than never and i am sure your all used to my blogging being all over the place! I wore this to the Ballet at His Majesty's Theatre last night to watch Taming Of The Shrew i love this theatre its 108 years old and has sky high ceilings with red velvet powder rooms and gold oval mirrors (sigh) it was such an amazing performance and since it was a mix of comedy and romance it felt like the time flew by!

"Oh my! a photo with me actually smiling, how did that get in there"

So i decided to lay out all the pencil skirts i own a few days ago, and after finding a few ive forgotten i even had im thinking i need to be checked into pencil skirt rehab! what can i say, i just love them! and since my last outfit post was another pencil skirt ive decided its time to let them go...for a week at least!

I have been location scouting for my new look book shoot featuring all the pretty Spring vintage i have for the shop! its been a little harder than i thought ive had visions of an amazing secret garden tucked away in an abandoned cottage...well i can dream cant i? hopefully i find something close to that anyway!!

So this weekend is going to be filled with hemming dresses, house hunting with my lover (he is buying, im helping him look through peoples houses..its a pretty fun job) breakfast with the girls tomorrow and hopefully a full few hours of reading with my feet up and The Beatles playing in the background (weekend bliss)

Im officially in one of the busiest weeks ive had in a long time, ordering boxes of vintage to arrive next week (too excited) hemming and designing dresses, and amongst all that a fair amount of time has been spent day dreaming and trying to not procrastinate...(which is hard work)

I woke up this morning and was disappointed to see rain!! what....are you kidding me... ive just been gabbing on about how amazing the weather is getting and bam...its all over for another week!! in an act of defiance i chose not to wear stockings..(i know im not just a regular rebel)

If you remember me saying in my last post i did my first official sewing lesson on Tuesday..it was great, i imagined sewing my clothes together or the needle flinging into my face at one point, but i left unharmed and with a new project to finish until the next class in a fortnight, im excited to get started on a vintage style skirt pattern ive been dying to try.. fingers crossed!!

Hello Spring!!!! the warm mornings are almost too good to handle..i love jumping (rolling) out of bed and picking a cute dress to wear instead of how many layers i need to stack up before i can feel my body again!! and this also means im on the hunt for new sunnies and since i cant afford the dreamy Karen Walker pair ive had my eye on..ill have to find something close..but not quite as amazing..

I love this little striped dress its actually in The Vintage Valley shop for sale (i cant believe it hasn't been snapped up yet) so i borrowed it for the day (shhh) its so versatile either add some pops of colour or keep in neutral with creams and browns..i have so many cute dresses for Spring/Summer cant wait to show you them all.

Ive been lucky enough to have gone to a few lunches for the Claremont Fashion Fortnight last week i had a lovely time at Zara Bryson (her clothes are beautiful) and caught up with my sweet friend Emma from Dropstitch..she did a little write up about it here!!

Im also super excited for my first dress making class tonight...(im probably going to accidentally sew my own clothes together) but hopefully im not too awful at it!!

Stepping Into Spring...

I did a double take yesterday when i was editing these photos, i realised i had taken two different sets of photos in the same dress but both Spring inspired, ( i thought id upload them both) im loving that i can prance around with daisies in my hair now and start to wear light cardigans and bare legs..Sorry ive been off the blogging radar this past week and id have to say ive missed it, i love blogging and when i have a few days off i feel a little disconnected..plus i just miss you all!!

So i styled this outfit with a cute navy and white belt that i had been dying to try out but haven't quite found the right outfit for, some beige pumps (im living in at the moment) and my favourite vintage bag, Its so unusual to see myself in straight hair on the blog, im always usually curling or putting my hair up but i wanted a little change..ive also been playing with ideas to change my hair...maybe a crop?? or a different style.. ive had the same hair for what feels like forever!! (and see i wasn't lying about my pastel nail polish collection, ive got so many new colours to try)

Im loving this peach dress at the moment, its so lightweight and i can practically wear it anywhere i went to a luncheon to watch Megan Park's new collection this week and i went for a little 40's style hair up do, and a simple pearl pendant!!

So i want to share an exciting secret...ive officially booked in for dress sewing lessons!! its something ive always wanted to do and i cant wait to start making my own little dresses for me..and the shop of course!! ive already been buying patterns and vintage fabrics..im too excited!!

Best Coast...

It's so freezing getting up in the morning now im so tempted to sleep in my dressing gown so i can get ready without injury!! ive banged my elbow so many times i cant count and tripped over bags on my floor trying to get ready in a rush because im so darn cold!!! So to get me started today i needed a little Best Coast...im definitely not a morning person!! takes me a few hours and a few cups of coffee before i feel like me.. so i need preppy music to get me going!! i love this film clip too its rather cute XX Happy Monday..

Oh Mah Deer!!!

I have been spending this week getting a wee bit excited that maybe..hopefully..fingers crossed i will be on holiday in Bali with my man in a few months i think im just in love with the idea of a holiday...anywhere really, im getting the itch to go exploring!!

This whole outfit is op shopped, all on the same day actually (i love it when that happens) its like its meant to be!! i had planned to wear this floral nanna skirt with a simple striped top but i couldn't bring myself to face the cold weather with at least a long sleeve blouse, i love a crisp white high collar blouse, a simple basic, but always needed in any girls wardrobe!!

I also found these vintage grandpa glasses recently, i love old frames im hoping one day i will need glasses (is that a weird thing to want?) i already have frames picked out if i ever need them (ok now you all think im nutty) they are just the perfect accessory but for now fake ones will do.
Im also pretty in love with my deer brooch (hence the title) its been attached to every one of my outfits lately.

Ode To Spring...

Its not quite here yet, but im already getting ready for Spring!!! to get a little inspiration i looked back at what i was wearing last spring and thought id upload a few pictures.. to no surprise im still excited to wear cute 50's floral dresses and straw hats, wear my tortoise shell sunglasses and paint my nails pastel colours...i love it when the flowers are getting ready to bloom and the weather is slowly warming up, its almost as magical as Autumn!!! I found a pic of my old fringe, im still not missing it and i cant wait to be sipping Dr Pepper in the park in just a few short spring weeks..

The Civil Wars...

I thought that this rather overcast and melancholy morning needed a beautiful song to kick start my day!! I...L..O..V..E The Civil Wars (because i don't mind me a little country every now and then) and when they arnet making me swoon with their amazing voices they are making me grin from ear to ear over how cute they are, for a long time i swore they were married but then i found out sure they are... just not to each other!! not that it makes them any less adorable!!! im guessing you would probably recognize this song too..
Alister Anne recently photographed them on tour and did a little behind the scenes video too, her photographs are always so amazing.

Feeling Rosy...

I have been having laptop issues this week (darn technology) it seems like it always happens when im looking forward to uploading something!! but better late than never right? so im in the market for a new lappy...pretty exciting!! im always behind in technology, i literally bought my iphone a few weeks before the new one was released..i felt so tech savvy and then bam!! already behind..

But one thing im pretty proud of (if i do say so myself) i managed to somewhat pull of Victory Rolls they have always flopped or one side is bigger than the other, but in a complete fluke i think they worked out ok..i was reading a book on vintage hairstyling and how small changes can make your hair flatter your face better, as in pulling the rolls higher makes your face look less round and flattening the sides and hair spraying them also helps..(this info would have helped a long time ago) but i reckon meh to the rules, if you pull it up and it feels great, then go with it!!

This beautiful ring is from Bianc a lovely friend of mine who has just started her own jewellery company, she must have known i have a weakness for Rose Quartz its so pretty!!! She also has so many more pretty pieces i wish i could afford..(added to the wish list)

This face is because i looked over and saw....

This little man dragging my jacket along the floor, yes my cats have very good taste in clothing!! check his face when i sprung him, hes giving me the innocent look!!!!

I would almost say these little guys have stolen my heart a little, i have always been a dog person but since my flatmate adopted them their cheeky little personalities have won me over..plus they are pretty snuggly..

You might remember this gorgeous 60's style mini i was given by the beautiful lady behind iamvintagelover i still adore it, and perfect for winter or summer because its so easy to accessorize i paired it with a high necked sleeveless blouse and a men's bow tie to add a little bit of dapper love!! (im getting a little bit of a bow tie collection now)

So im off to start my weekend, im watching Wicked tomorrow night after a grueling Jacobs Ladder exercise session in the morning which will earn me a glass or two of wine i think!!!

The Kooks// Junk Of The Heart...

Huzzah for another Kooks album!! Finally... and if Junk of the heart is anything to go by im super excited to hear it!! I'll always remember the kooks being a must on the road trips i took with the girls (when i was younger...what feels like..alot younger than i am now) windows down!! nothing but thoughts of lying on the beach and packets of junk food strewn across the car, singing at the top of our lungs "She moves in her own way"
Now were older and priorities and commitments are a bit more demanding its harder to get the time for trips with the girls, but all it takes is hitting the kooks playlist on my iPhone and its like im almost back there!! mm mm cant you smell the sea already!!

Bright White Lights...

I have had the busiest week so far (with work of course) but also coming up with some fresh new ideas for the shop which hopefully wont take me too long to put into action!! trouble is with me im all about the plans..i even go out and buy fresh new notebooks weekly to scribble new ideas all over and then stick them all over the house but actually getting them off the page fast enough before i move onto another idea is a different ball game..i think i have the attention span of a goldfish!!

I wanted to upload this outfit for ages now but haven't managed to snag any good photos of the dress, until now!! Its an old vintage wedding dress that i found op shopping and had originally put in the hemming pile, but after awhile i couldn't bear to fix it in any way instead i just grabbed a gorgeous stone brooch my flatmate gifted to me and gathered the side a little.. to show off a little leg and also add a little flow to it!!!

I just love it...thank goodness i didn't attack it earlier with the scissors (see there is no harm in procrastination..sometimes)

Do you find it difficult to style white sometimes? i do, especially if im not in a bright colour blocking mood and just want to add subtle accessories!! but i think you cant go wrong with black and gold!!

Im so excited to spend this weekend photographing new stock and maybe do a little photoshoot also.. in between, breakfast with the girls, op shopping and a lot of couch dwelling..(sigh) i love lazy weekends!!!

Pleats & Posies

I Ally..am a self confessed vintage clothing addict...as i think you may all have realized,
Im guilty of feeding my undying urges to scour piles of clothes and using elbows to force my way over to the 1950's flower print dress hidden between the 80's polyester two piece suits.

I may not need that hand embroided blouse or another dress to add on to my one day..i might...never..hopefully get around to hemming but its sure a rush to know im the only girl who will be wearing it and no one else can pop out and buy the replica..its mine all mine!!!!

Although feeding my vintage addiction means my poor wardrobe is bursting and to tell the truth i still love every piece i own!! so every now and then when ive almost given up on deciding what to put on and im about to crack it and announce im not going anywhere...because i have nothing to wear, ill pull open a drawer and find nestled in the back a perfect navy pleated skirt that sparks a surge of outfit ideas...and all is good again!!! So when your boyfriend insists you have too many clothes..you can shake the pleated skirt in his face and say see...i knew id wear this more than once!!!

The corset top is actually a little dress but because the pleated skirt has a little volume to it i could get away with double layering, we had a few cheeky days of sun this week so i couldn't wait to add a little pretty print.. I have a few little projects in the works at the moment but top of my list is dress making lessons ( its always been a dream of mine to have my own dress collection) im looking up a few classes so hopefully soon ill be whipping up some cute vintage inspired pieces yay!!!

History's Door was one of those songs i kept catching the middle or end of..which was so frustrating because it took me a long time to figure out what band was responsible for this amazing tune...i love songs that can make you feel like you might have left your body for a few moments and are floating on the ceiling somewhere, then it finishes and you snap back to reality...to just hit play again..
And it also doesn't hurt that they are a rather cute bearded bunch of talented goodness!!!

Ive begun to realize i go through what feels like 50 pairs of stockings in winter because im so cold in the mornings im basically pulling them on at warp speed i promise you these red beauties are about all i have left in my stock pile!!
These freezing mornings are leaving me wanting a tropical holiday...somewhere..anywhere, especially since winter is no season for a forgetful person like me..leaving car windows down and the washing on the line..which means im smacking my forehead a little more than usual!!!

Im not quite sure if this (pretty perfect) gingham top was part of a set and had a blouse to match underneath but i found it quite lonesome in the op shop..and unless i was to cause a few raised eyebrows walking down the street i figured a bow blouse was the way to go!! it has everything that makes my heart flutter, beautiful red piping, buttons and a gingham pattern...although i thought i could just tuck my blouse sleeves up and it wouldn't irritate me was a bit of a dopey move but wont be doing that again in a hurry!!

Im hoping to have a pretty quiet weekend..spending time with the boy, cuddling up to the kittens and drinking lots of hot chocolate!! and maybe squeezing in a few handmade projects!!

Hair Styling // Winter Looks I Love...

I have had a few emails and comments asking me h0w i styled a few of my hairstyles in my outfit posts and even though im no expert i thought id show you four winter hair looks im simply obsessed with right now (of course these styles can be worn in Summer too)

Looped Quiff ...
Using second day washed hair curl using a hair straightener or curling wand all over, loosly tousle your curls and spray with hairspray.
Select a top section taking from one side of your head and take the end strands to tuck it underneath creating a curl (see image two) use bobby pins to secure in place ensuring you can see the pins too much.
I love this look when im wearing a cute floral dress layered with stockings!!!

60's Big Hair...
To acheive this style you can use hair that was curled yesterday or second day washed hair, re-curl sections of your hair and then flip your hair upside-down and use hairspray all over.
Take a comb and tease out the side pieces to get a little more volume and then brush your front fringe all the way back teasing it a little also.
Get a cute headband or fabric strip and tie underneath.
This hairstyle is so easy and takes two seconds to do..its fun and great if your rushing out the door!!!

Vintage Inspired Up Do...
This is actually very simple to do and once you get the hang of it takes a couple of minutes.
Make sure you have second day washed hair, take one corner section as in hairstyle 1 ( in a triangle shape) and do the roll pin then take the other triangle side and just simply roll it and pin trying to get it as high as you can, then gather the remaining hair and pull to your prefered side and twist into a bun.
I like to wear a cute bow headband or even a Grecian style beaded headband to mix it up a little

I apologize that i don't have step by step images for you to see the process its a little hard taking the photos myself hopefully i can swindle a friend to take photos for me one day..
So i hope you liked seeing my favourite four hairstyles for winter (notice most of them are curly??) my hair likes to explode into a frizz ball when it rains!! so its easier to conceal with curls haha

Wild Nothing...

I thought id upload a slow moving pick me up song this morning...(is there such a thing) i listen to Wild Nothing when im having a particularly nostalgic day or i just cant get moving!!!
I love the drawling lyrics and semi up beat feel to them...they are pretty darn swell!! Even though they dont have a video to match the tone of the song, just push play and close your eyes haha..
Hope this semi-gets you moving today..this cloudy weather makes me want to crawl back in bed.

Simple Vintage...

I have been dressing in alot of pastel toned clothes lately im guessing its the change in weather and that all my winter clothes are creamy pinks and browns but since its so cold in the mornings im finding it harder to want to hover in front of my wardrobe and construct outfits while my toes freeze..so ive been taking a simple vintage road and sticking to cute mid sleeve tops and thicker material skirts..easy to layer with stockings but still feeling cute and vintage inspired and of course like me!!!
I attached two pics that are inspiring me at the moment Audrey Hepburn does simple styling so amazingly..

I found this side split skirt while op shopping last week and im pretty happy with how warm it is!!! i dont mind a good winter skirt!!
Ive also been putting together some winter inspired hair up do's and styling that i will post next week..

Messy Buns and Bow Blouses..

Well its official ive pulled out the black pants... its too cold even for tights now!! and so the Winter rituals have started, running from the steaming shower to stand in front of the heater, sleeping in because its too cold to get out of bed, drinking copius amounts of green tea and avoiding standing next to the flu ridden people on the train!!

My flat mate had a huge wardrobe clean out and was throwing out this gorgeous vintage blazer (which i snapped up) it fits perfectly and is thick enough to wear during these freezing days, its so easy to style just throw on a white bow blouse and pants or a red top and black pencil skirt!!

Ive been trying to master the art of the perfectly messy bun..as simple as it looks mine always turns out flat or lopsided in areas!! but i think the longer my hair gets the easier it is to tease and wrap!!
Well im off to make another tea and start my day XX

The Head And The Heart...

If your an avid Indi Folk listener and you haven't heard of The Head And The Heart (hand slap) then your going to thank me for uploading them today, unless you develop an unhealthy obsession like i (definately) have scouring their previous albums and hoping their tour dates will change and maybe..hopefully..fingers crossed..they will come to Australia (which would be in my dreams really) I adore them so!! they are the perfect mix of heart on a sleeve lyrics mixed with beautiful harmonies..and Charity Rose has the most divine voice!!
Its not hard to make my heart swell when i listen to folk music but they really are so talented...they could bring anyone to tears or trudge up thoughts of missing home!!

Turn It All Around...

Ive been a little obsessed with turning my clothes backwards lately..i have been on a tight budget with allowing myself to purchase clothes so im starting to get bored with my options...turning cardigans and belts backwards add a little hidden quirk to an outfit...and if you get cardigans with cute lace back patterns it makes a center piece for your outfit!! and i didn't have to buy a thing!!

Wearing belts backwards was a fashion statement back in the 40's and 50's i think its time it had a comeback.
I pulled this sheer skirt from The Vintage Valley Shop its so cute over the top of stockings in the rainy weather we have been having!! its still nice to feel pretty while hiding yourself in mounds of cardigans and jackets...
I finally had my hair done (thank goodness) i have recently had the urge to go red..but couldn't bring myself to do it this time!!! maybe one day ill work up the courage..

Its no secret im a devoted Bon Iver fan...he is possibly my favourite artist..without fail each of his albums has made me fall more in love with his hauntingly beautiful voice!! When im having a low day or even when im dreaming up new goals and paths for my life to take hes usually blaring through my earphones..so i guess you could say hes been the soundtrack to my life for awhile!!
I adore the film clip for Calgary its like a wonderful dream filled with sinking beds, book trees and ladders to different worlds...magical!!

Seahorses and Lace...

On my Op Shopping trip this week i found so many cute pieces of jewellery including this gold plated seahorse (which i personally think are hard to find..in good condition anyway) and a pretty amazing glass jewellery bowl too which you might have seen on my Instagram HERE pretty gorgeous huh?
I love vintage brooches, an obsession that started with my grandma..she would always let me look through her jewellery collection and give me cute brooches to wear...whenever i find a gorgeous one i always think of her!!

We have been having some small peeks of sunlight this week..which is an excuse to bring out my sheer lace blouses!! this top has actually got large longer sleeves but i thought with the pencil skirt it would be cuter tucked up a little..

To make this outfit a little more winter appropriate i would just add some Maroon coloured tights and soft cardigan..
Im hoping to fill my weekend with lots of coffee, finally getting my hair coloured (about time) relaxing with the boy and taking way too many Instagram photos..

Mulberry Lane...

As im usually trying to pinch my purse pennies (im really awful at budgeting) i sometimes have a minor slip up and will walk out of a shop with an item i couldn't not take home with me..at the time im so annoyed i caved in and purchased it but when i get home and start putting outfits together..it seems i was right..i couldn't not have it in my wardrobe!!! Hence this adorable mulberry and black hat...

One shop that always is a weakness for me is Forever New..they always have adorable pieces!! this hat was on sale (even better) and was the last one left huzzah!! i immediately wanted to pair it with a cute baby doll style dress keeping the colours minimal and keeping the hat the feature of the outfit!! (Also this dress will be up for sale in the shop this week if you have kinda...fallen in love with it...like i have)

Ive been spending this week double layering my stockings, wearing knitted mittens, removing ice from my car windscreen and hovering over my coffee trying to steal every ounce of heat from it!! its definately winter..

Traveling Journal...

Welcome to another edition of the Traveling Journal i apologize for the delay in between posts as the journal took a little rest in transit but is now back on its way again!! It recently stopped in Toronto with the lovely Jennifer and here are her pages!!

Im always completely blown away when i receive images of the girls holding the journal and Jennifers pages are just as amazing i love the mosaic design, so beautiful!!
As theatre is a huge passion of hers she made the mosaic out of lighting gels which are used to change the stage lighting and sketched a design over the top!! i love that she used her passion as inspiration and it also gives me an idea for using all my photography light gels i never use anymore...So now the journal has already been sent to the next lovely lady, i cant wait to see what her pages will be like!!

Music Monday // Devilles Blogger Meet

I thought id mash the two posts together today as i was going to upload them separately but who doesn't love a little bit of Elvis so he's included in Music Monday!! Im a little late on posting about it but last Saturday i went to a blogger meet at Devilles with some of the local Perth Bloggers where we sipped on cocktails and danced the night away to a Elvis impersonator band...it was so much fun!!! it kinda made me wish i had stuck to those swing dancing lessons!!

As i didn't take my camera i secretly (or not so secretly) borrowed these images from the girls at Le.Fanciulle so thanks ladies!! Trish is also the smart cookie who made the video of the night..it was so hilarious watching myself dance around!! (im more uncoordinated than i thought haha)

The simple things..

I've been enjoying a few days off from the shop and also work..and managed to fit in some time with the girls and a little time on the things I love like reading a good book, drinking green tea and general couch perching!! The new apartment has the most amazing back area with a huge couch perfect for dwelling my time away!!! I've recently just finished Wuthering heights (again) and am probably going to re-read Jane Eyre now too.. I love re-reading books, you sometimes pick up on little things you may have missed before.

I love this dusty pink top I think I've worn it a few times on the blog it's perfectly cut and seems to go with everything!! I've also added this purple little pencil skirt to my collection (like I don't have enough) but I love finding the rare colours..I'm still yet to find a good mustard coloured one!!

I hope you all have a swell weekend, I'm planning to get some shop planning done, do a massive wardrobe cleanout and hopefully fit in some op shopping time!! Xx

Alex Turner...

Im not sure how i can pin point how i came across the trailer to Submarine i think i was trawling through a few shorts from the sundance film festival and it popped up i straight away thought it was possibly the sweetest film id seen in awhile (even if it is about a 15 year old boy and his first love..ahem..and his quest to loose his virginity) and then to add to the sweetness of it all Alex Turner (from Arctic Monkeys) had released a 6 track EP for it...which then lead to me wondering how on earth i had missed it!!!!! so thank goodness my endless internet trawling sometimes leads me to wonderful discoveries, when usually i just end up watching Jim Carrey skits on YouTube..
So i think im officially in love with this song...or maybe its just the perfect 60's vibe film clip!!

After months of searching i finally found a red jacket that was pretty close to what i wanted!! when i was scouring the racks this week at my local op shop there it was hidden behind a mob of faux fur jackets..tadaa!!! id have to say its the perfect mix of grandma chic...

Ive had a fab week so far with amazing little surprises and finally enough time in the week to do a mini shop upload!! ive been thinking of taking the shop in a whole different direction and actually customizing vintage dresses i find..i already do it in a way adding new buttons or hemming the length..but im wanting to take it just a little bit further...ive got a whole sketch book with all my rambling ideas, its time to bring them to life!!
Im hoping the rain will let up for Saturday night as im planning to dance the night away with a few of the Perth blogger ladies so so looking forward to it!! and aside from the usual (unglamorous) weekend chores like washing and mopping floors im catching up with my mum for lunch and hopefully maybe...scouting out the KoKo Black in Claremont...yumm!! ive been missing their hot chocolate..

Babydoll...

I took these photos when the sun was out a little...now as im typing this post its pouring down with rain outside brr..makes me look a little silly for wearing a dress but as it was warmer yesterday i didn't freeze trust me!!!
Ive had a busy week so far lots of work, shopping for The Vintage Valley Shop and planning photoshoots for upcoming stock!! so i feel the blog has been slipping a little lately..sorry...sometimes i have a hard time juggling everything but the blog is one thing i don't want to suffer!! Im going to have to train the boy to take outfit photos for me that will help alot i think...

Im trying to get a little organised in the office and took a trip to Kikki.K yesterday...its always so bad going in there, i want everything..i ended up getting an adorable single letter stamp set eek...there is nothing like coming home with fresh stationary especially when its super cute!!

I adore this baby blue wiggle dress as soon as you put it on you feel a million dollars.. the capped shoulders front pockets and back bow are so perfect..I matched it with a red lip and brown brogues...im going to have to say goodbye to flashing my white legs and start dressing appropriate to the weather..so sad!! so im sure you will be now seeing tights, jackets and hats on the blog from now on..ive been taking alot of layering inspiration from Kate Spade she always does it perfectly with amazing colour clashes..

Now im off to get serious about my day...but after i have another cup of coffee!!! what would i do
without it haha..

Starfucker...

Another Monday...i cant believe it!! this month feels like its almost over!!! I hope you all had a swell weekend..If your nursing a sore head or needing a little pick me up Starfucker should do the trick...(then again nearly all my Music Monday songs are pick me up songs) Their name for a start makes me chuckle..if you were naming your band what would make you go ahhah!!! Starfucker is perfect hahaha...but in a way it suits their cruisy, boppy beats and watching the clip makes me want to float off into bubblegum coloured nothingness...bliss!!!

Well were finally home..its been only three days really but since ive been away from my laptop it feels like a lot longer!! i had the most amazing time in Melb with the boy he got to watch the soccer and i got to drink copious amounts of hot chocolate and shop till my shins were sore...perfect compromise i think...here is a few Instagram pics from the trip...

A few things i learned on the trip is to always pack socks...thank god i could borrow the boys (that's right i have big feet) bring appropriate footwear, 50's attire is not warm enough for freezing almost snowing Melbourne weather..stick to jeans!!! don't forget your toothpaste..and don't watch Arj Barker on the way home in the aeroplane...you will laugh out loud (to everyone else's annoyance) almost choke from trying to hold in the tears and throw your complimentary ice-cream all over your boyfriend!!

So now im home its straight back into work and im off to shop for The Vintage Valley shop on Saturday so expect some cute goodies next week!!! finally you yell....

Seeker, Lover, Keeper...

Im sure you all know the collaboration between Sally Seltmann, Holly Throsby and Sarah Blasko Seeker Lover Keeper...even though they are getting mixed reviews id have to say im a fan, i think they are all amazing songwriters and artists so now its a genuine mixed bag of darn tooting goodness...they released three songs but id have to say this is my fav..mayb only because of his pretty awesome dance moves haha but give the other two a listen also..they are pretty fab!!! well now im off to board a plane to Melb yay!!! so excited to have an adventure out of the city for a few days..dont worry ill be taking loads of pictures XXXX

Flower Child...

Nothing like a little mid week 60's vibe instead of a cute mod mini (as its darn freezing right now) i dusted off the highwaisted flare jeans!! ohh i forgot how comfortable they were...you all know i love a tight pencil skirt and most of my outfits make it somewhat hard to breathe in so its nice to thrown on a pair of old jeans and do some makeshift lunges down my hallway (that was me demonstrating to my flat mate how easy it was to move in them)....

I pulled this AMAZING jacket from The Vintage Valley shop to wear as i cant believe it hasn't been snapped up yet its pretty perfect!! its so easy to style whether its a pair of jeans or a cute black dress it makes everything feel extra pretty...

So the countdown begins Melbourne is almost here eeek!!!! im so excited i cant believe the boy is taking me away for a few days i am one lucky girl!!! im trying not to scout out too many art galleries and vintage shops to drag him to, but i am hoping we can squeeze in alot of Japanese food, people watching, pimms drinking and a massage or two...(bliss)
Ive been on the hunt for the perfect red winter jacket but every one ive found has been a little underwhelming..either the colour isn't a nice red or there are weird black soldier buttons all over it!!! darn it...maybe Melbourne will have some nice ones to choose from...
Im also very very excited for my friends engagement party this weekend so many many outfits will be thrown around my room hopefully ill scrub up ok!!

Silver Lining...

Huzzah....finally an outfit post!! i have a very long list of excuses as to why its taken me so long...top of the list is the move to my new house!! but i wont bore you with the rest of the excuses..so tadaa!! here is what will be my new outfit backdrop a little nicer than my usual limestone wall you think?? the flat has a beautiful back area with a huge entertainment area and my new flatmate is super sweet...although im still kinda shy about taking photos of myself in front of her yet...i don't want her thinking im a freak just yet!!

So we have officially hit Winter and i couldn't be more happier i love layering, coloured tights and huge jackets...and sleeping in while the rain pours down!! if you follow me on Twitter you know i was on the hunt for red tights and FINALLY found some because im so tall all i could find was small sizes..grr!! so i was really excited to play with the colours and put some outfits together with them..(also gave me some ideas for outfits for Melbourne next week since its going to be freezing)

I love this little water feature in the backyard..totally adorable!! So if your all wondering what ive been up to ive been trying to unpack my room (still...i know im lazy) hanging out with my lovely man eating way too many San Churros doughnuts and hot chocolate and trying to get back into my regular blogging routine... (which i am trying so very hard to do..)
Ill also be updating the shop when i get back from Melbourne next week so keep an eye out for some cute winter pieces!!!

There is so much for me to organise this week packing for Melbourne, finding an engagement party dress for this weekend, photographing stock for the shop and eating lots of pizza...toooo much to do!!! i hope your all having a swell week...

Matt & Kim...

Finally...blogger is working for me now!!! i have spent all day trying to get the Html working on my laptop (very big grrrrrr) anyway...better late than never hey!!
This song was very appropriate for this morning i woke up rushed out of bed and the storm clouds were rolling in....hard choice between a little Bon Iver or a pick me up song!! i chose pick me up because not even coffee was working for me (i hate it when that happens)
Hope you had a fab Monday i spent it growling at my laptop and watching people dodge the rain in the city!! i love winter..maybe just for the colourful tights..but i still love it!!!

I hope your all having a swell Wednesday, i stupidly left the camera battery charger at my old house so there has been no outfit posts so far..(head smack) but hopefully ill pick it up tomorrow and have an outfit to post for Friday (fingers crossed).
This week has been a jumble of getting settled in the new house, learning im quite happy living in a fort of cardboard boxes if that means i don't have to unpack them and cursing at technology because getting internet connection was the bane of my existence for a week or so...its really terrible how much i rely on it!!!!!
Anyhoo....im going to go give the kitties a scratch and try to find my wooly socks in one of the boxes...its freezing today XX

Noah And The Whale...

So ive been a little lost the past couple of days without internet connection on my laptop ive been surviving off my iphone...(hence the Tuesday not Monday music upload) but now its back and heres Monday's/Tuesday's Music pick!! Colour Block...

Im moving house this weekend so i didn't get the chance to take a photograph of my outfit today (as its moving jeans and a dusty t-shirt) so i thought id upload an outfit i wore this week when the sun was shining a little, i love to colour block and mix colours especially bright ones!! rules were meant to be broken right...

Im super sad but excited about this next chapter in my life moving into a new house in a new suburb, im going to miss living in Mt Lawley though with all my girls its nice to be surrounded by your friends but here's to new adventures and a new backdrop for all my photos hahaha!!!
Im also super excited to go to Melbourne in a few weeks with my man.. hes spoiling me for a few days and im too excited, its so nice to have someone amazing in my life id almost forgotten what it felt like to be in love!!

So im sorry the post is short but i have a bed to take apart (worst part of moving) id have to say im the worst packer im always sitting down going through old photos and yearbooks haha well i better chop chop..

As im sure you all may know photography used to be a pretty big part of my life i photographed diamond jewellery for five years and before that did a little freelance work for weddings or portraits i originally wanted to be a photographer when i had a job at a digital printing company in the city, there was a lady who would come in a get her large scale landscape photo prints done and i used to find myself infatuated with how she captured them, the light, even the story behind the photograph all the photos were of the Australian landscape glittering gold flecked beaches at sunset and the vast dry rocky orange's of the outback and id have to say that's where i realized this was something i really wanted to learn how to do!! to capture the world at its most beautiful..

I borrowed a camera (as i was rather broke) and I took classes and found i really had a passion for macro photography (which is where jewellery came in) but after five years of being cooped up to a desk going through the daily motions i found myself loosing my passion for photography, not only would i come home and not even have the urge to pick up my camera but i just wasn't interested in general... So i have been out of that job for more than a couple of months and i have been slowly but surely getting my passion back, and im excited to get some creative juices flowing again!!!

Anyway after that rather long explanation what i was trying to say was that im taking inspiration from alot of photographers at the moment in particular these images caught my eye (im sure you have seen them all over the internet already)!! pretty awesome huh.. this is the work of Irina Werning she said she had always had a snooping urge to see baby pictures of people and started to re-enact the photographs of them when they were older last year to create a series called Back To The Future...

Everything matches from the clothing to facial expressions even the photo processing its a stroke of genius!!! my favourite is the little girl & lady holding her purse next to the pillar so adorable...Makes me want to get a baby picture and re-enact it myself...in fact i just might!!!
Its given me a kick up the bottom to get out there and experiment a little again..

Midlake...

Ive been listening to a bit of Midlake lately, mostly because were heading into winter and im in total hibernation mode organizing things for the look book...the inside of my house is starting to look pretty boring!! i think i need some fresh air.. I fell in love with this song of theirs and then from there stemmed a love affair, if you haven't given them a listen yet..do it...
Just like every other blogger who uses Blogger i had some problems with loosing wonderful comments and even previous posts as far as i know we are expected to get them back but all the same if you left me a wonderful message and it hasn't appeared im super sorry!! if you want u can leave me another one so i can track back to your blogs and send you some love or we can just shake fists and mutter at blogger!!
Anyway im off to hit the city and its freezing, i can finally break out my cozy jackets huzzah!!!

I Am Vintage Lover..

On Tuesday afternoon while i was sorting through mounds of clothes to hem my flatmate brought in a package that had been dropped off by our trusty postman....after i (practically ripped it apart) i started sreaming omg..omg.. and then tripped over my laptop cord to get to my bedroom to try on this gorgeous dress that was sent to me by the lovely Jaharn of I Am Vintage Lover

She was very cheeky and got my postal address after i had gushed to her over twitter about this amazing dress in her collection she was ever so sweet to send it to me... i really dont get used to amazing ladies sending me things although id have to say that this dress has stolen my heart...its one of a kind..and fits like it was made for me (it also makes me feel like a cross between a 60's mod go go dancer and a school girl..perfection)!!! thank you, thank you!! i love the little vintage community we have im so luck to be a part of it and have gotten to know so many amazing and creative ladies xx

I Styled the dress with a vintage sheer pussy bow blouse and a vintage bow clutch and sailor scarf i think the dress speaks for itself and dosent need too much embellishment..although in winter it will be perfect with some mulberry stockings and a cream peacoat!!!!!

As i posted on Wednesday i have been trying to put together a look book for The Vintage Valley...its really exciting and its a chance to get the creative juices flowing, at the moment im sourcing locations ive already found models and now im sorting out the pieces i want to use...i cant wait to share with you all the small details.. and finally the finished product (eventually)
There is so much i want to do with The Vintage Valley label and so many places i hope it will go, its a bit bizarre to finally see some of it happening!!!

So now im off to get a bubble tea (i tried Mango milk tea with rainbow jellys yesterday yummm) and finish up some emails..I hope you all have a swell weekend planned XX

Mum....

Ive been listening to Mum for awhile, after all i think i have a slight obsession with Icelandic bands since i play Sigur Ros on repeat also, they are the ultimate winter moody music and im so looking forward to more rain coming so i can sit in bed listen to Mum and have a steaming cup of tea... I love that they usually incorporate pencil artwork into their music clips it makes them so fascinating to watch!! So i hope this gives you a slow kick start to your day but encourages you to drink in the world for a moment..just a teeny moment!!

Horsing Around...

Just a quick outfit post today, ive been having a hard time getting back into the swing of things after being away for a couple of days for the wedding, it was so nice to have a few days off!! But i threw myself back into the shop yesterday and did another upload (check it out below) i sold a few of my fav pieces just so i can make room for more of course haha!! I took these pics yesterday before me and the Boy drove down to Rockingham just to get fish and chips and chill out down at the beach, was definately maxi dress weather!! i love it when we just jump in the car and drive until we end up somewhere..nothing like spontaneous fun!!

I borrowed the vest from The Vintage Valley Shop just to add a little cute touch to the outfit its patterned with horses Ahhhhdorable!!!
On a very very relieved note i managed to find a place to live (as i was starting to think id be sleeping on the street soon) ill be moved in in about two weeks and ill have a new housemate too so hopefully it will all work out...so exciting!!
Im hoping to finish up my book this weekend, finish off planning The Vintage Valley Lookbook and hopefully catch up with my sister for her Birthday.ohhh so busy busy!!

My Sister's Big Day...

As promised i wanted to just show you a few little pictures of my sister's wedding on Saturday, it was such a beautiful day and im so lucky i was able to share it with her it was four full on days of driving up to Quairading, setting up the reception, doing rehearsals, crafting and lots of family time.
Her ceremony was on top of a hill overlooking the whole town it was breathtaking and you couldn't have asked for better weather..pretty perfect!! i was fighting back the tears the whole day (let me say hearing your dad do a speech is such a proud moment) and it was a day filled with lots of love and hugging..

The bridesmaids wore purple (my sis favorite colour) and my sisters dress was so perfect she looked like a princess..A truly magical country wedding.. i couldn't be more proud and over the moon for them both!! i dont think i can begin to tell you the feeling of watching your big sister get married..its just simply amazing.

Young The Giant...

I know i have been absent from the blog all weekend (ive missed you guys haha) but my sister was married on Saturday in Quairading and the days leading up to it were extremely full on..lots of organising crafting and making sure my sister dosent have a mental breakdown from all the stress!!! it was such a beautiful day though and ill share a few pics of the day tomorrow if your keen to see!! On my roadtrip down to Quairading a good 2 hour drive this song came on and the combination of the sun setting a good tune and an open road was pretty amazing...When i got home i looked them up not only is the lead singer all too cute but he knows how to properly bang a tambourine haha.. Im off to start my day in The Vintage Valley Shop and get some urgent emails answered!! XX
