Coffee and Day Dresses...

 photo 13_zps08331ff4.jpg
I find a way of coping through difficult times is sometimes knowing its life giving you a gentle push to appreciate every day, It has meant I now take to walking around the block on my lunch breaks and breathing in the crisp air, watching people run from the fresh drops of rain & splashing through puddles while nestling their jaws into woollen scarfs and enjoying each sip from an expertly made coffee!

Last week held a few trying days but I am slowly looking to take something from it all! It also has meant recently I have taken to defying all laws of Winter and wearing my bright day dresses, this fruit dress is one of my favourites, it’s a simple wrap and tie dress but its literally a throw on and go piece that I always receive compliments on, I found it op shopping a few years ago and since I am a sucker for a cute print there was no way I was leaving without it!

I hope you all had a fab weekend! I taught a private vintage hair class, drank rose tea, danced on Sunday night and fixed up a few dresses in my ‘to-do’ pile!

After many early Saturday mornings of training and costume sewing, last weekend the Perth Swing Dance Academy dance troup shimmied and kicked our way through a few 1920's Charleston routines at the Parmelia Hilton for a Murdoch University Ball! It was so much fun and i am glad that even if i think each time i am going to forget all the steps and freeze on the spot it never happens (phew), i think everyone scrubbed up rather nicely too and i had some fun whipping out the finger waves!

This time of year is definitely soul cleansing for me, a simple walk around a dewdrop covered suburb with the sunlight dancing through the auburn leaves just forces me to take a deep breath and be thankful for everything i have around me. It also makes me want to jump in puddles, pull out my vintage blouses and dust off the gloves too! Absolute bliss.

I have been in full swing prepping for my workshop this Sunday, if you have haven't had the chance to book yourself in i still have a few spots with your name written all over it. Follow THIS link to book! We will be mastering the art of pin curling, french rolls and even delving into 40's style Queue curls too!

I have a full night of lindy hop planned as well as copius amounts of hot chocolate and a charleston dance peformance tomorrow! Its going to be a big weekend!

At last i can re-introduce my hair to the world and stop wearing hair scarves to cover the (shield your eyes..its too hideous to look directly at)regrowth, i can also now stop starting conversations with...ohhh..if your looking at my hair, i have just had to save the world, wrestle a jungle cat & make an emperor some new pants??? and just...havent...had...time to get my roots done! (phew)...but i swear everything always feels new and amazing with fresh hair, styles just seem to work better and my outfits come together a little easier.

I purchased a book called Art Deco Hair that i promise to share with you next week, it has a few finger waving techniques that i am in love with, this is one attempt at a more relaxed 30's finger wave and im pretty happy with how it turned out! I have a long way to go with really mastering all the different types and styles, that is one thing i love about vintage hair styling you are constantly learning!

I hope you all have a fab weekend! Xx
